How to make the BEST Arnold Palmer

How to make the BEST Arnold Palmer

Arnold Palmer

(Approximately 5 servings)

This recipe is a fresh twist on the classic Arnold Palmer Mocktail. Using cold-brewed Ypsi.Land.Tea and fresh-squeezed lemon juice turns this ordinary drink into something upscale and artisan.

  • 3 Cups cold-brewed Ypsi.Land.Tea (or black tea of your choice)
  • ½ - 3/4  Cup  simple syrup (½ cup granulated sugar & ½ cup water)*
  • 1/3  to ½  Cup fresh-squeezed lemon juice, to taste (2 lemons, or more as needed)**
  • 1 Cup ice-cold water
  • ice as needed for serving

Cold Brew Tea

Measure 3 cups water and 9 grams (3 servings) black tea leaves into mason jar. Cover and brew in refrigerator for 12-24 hours. This can be done several days in advance or timed with the end brew time coinciding with preparation of this recipe. Cold brewing the tea will result in a smooth tea with no astringency. Simple Syrup

Make the simple syrup. Combine ½ cup sugar and ½ cup water in a small saucepan. Heat on stovetop over medium heat. Stir to dissolve sugar while mixture comes to a boil. Set aside to cool. This makes approximately ¾ cup of simple syrup.

Meanwhile, roll lemons around on your counter to soften. Cut in half, and squeeze into a liquid measuring cup or juice with a juicer. Add pulp to the juice, but discard any seeds. Continue juicing until you have approximately 1/2 Cup fresh juice and pulp.

Remove cold-brewed tea from refrigerator and strain into a pitcher. Add 1/3 to 1/2 cup of lemon juice and pulp (to taste), 1 cup ice-cold water, and ½ cup simple syrup (you should have approximately ¾ cup). Stir to combine. Add additional simple syrup as needed 1 Tablespoon at a time. Can also add additional water if needed.

Serve over ice. Store covered in refrigerator for up to a week. If storing, the luquids may seperate. Be sure to stir it before serving.

NOTES

*To make ahead, refrigerate the cooled simple syrup for up to one month.

**2 large lemons should yield about ½ cup juice and pulp, but the number required will depend on the size of the lemons.

Samantha's Tips

  • I also make this using Picturesque Peninsula and Shipwreck Alley Strawberry. My daughter loved the one with Shipwreck Alley Strawberry (her favorite cold brew) - it was like a Strawberry lemondade!
  • When making the recipe with these different teas I noticed that the "to taste" ratios were slightly different. Which is why I recommend 1/3 - 1/2 cup of lemon juice and 1/2 - 3/4 cups of simple syrup.
  • Additionally, we noticed that the flavor changes over a day or 2 in the refridgerator.
