Makaibari Estate Green is farmed in Darjeeling India.
Darjeeling is one of the worlds most famous tea producing regions. Cultivation there dates to the early 1800s. In operation since 1859, the Makaibari Estate is family owned and prides itself as being the "world's first tea factory." Makaibari follows the permaculture farming method. A form of integrated forest management where the tea bush is part of a multi-tier system of trees and plants typical to the sub-tropical rainforest native to the region.
This green tea exhibits many of the same qualities and characteristics as Darjeeling black teas, but with an unoxidized less processed leaf. The wonderful leaf style with varying colors produces an easy-to-drink, excellent cup.
Makaibari Estate Green is low in caffeine content and high in antioxidants.
